TRAVIS WALL
Age 19; Los Angeles
"So You Think You Can Dance" (season two, 2006). Finished in second place.
Travis: Another "Argh! So close and yet so far!" Actually, Virginians supporting the spiky-haired kid dancing his brains out knew he'd go on to bigger and better.
A month ago, after the sold-out "SYTYCD" tour and holidays back home in Virginia, Travis left for L.A. with his new roomie, fellow "Dance" alum Ivan Koumaev.
Evidence of Travis' extreme busyness? He left Virginia Beach Jan. 6, but his cell-phone message -- punctuated with background yells from Ivan -- still says he's in transit to L.A.
Uh, Travis, could be time to update. How else will your agency, McDonald/Selznick Associates Inc., know you're available?
In the meantime, Travis' mom, who still runs Denise Wall's Dance Energy in Virginia Beach, offers an update:
Free time? What free time? "Travis and Ivan both just performed and choreographed a piece for The Choreographers Ball in Los Angeles.
"Travis has been auditioning. He's waiting to hear about a guest spot on 'Cold Case.'
"It's between him, a dancer-actor, and another guy who's an actor-dancer.
"Also, Brian Friedman [and another 'SYTYCD'choreographer] invited Travis to go to Canada to teach master classes."
Here, there, everywhere: "He's also been teaching for the New York City Dance Alliance every weekend . . . last week in Portland, Ore.; this weekend in Orlando; next weekend in St. Louis. But he's coming home in two weeks for a week!"
(Speaking of mixing it up, in late December, choreographers Friedman and Dee Caspary joined Ivan, Travis and his brother, Danny Tidwell, in a dance intensive at Denise's studio. Virginia Beach is seeing some serious dance action.)
Travis with Ivan
Interesting choice of tribal beats.
